Juniors
The next generation.
Squads six days a week at Changlimithang, a Monthly Junior Series to compete in, and a pathway that now runs all the way to an international draw. Everything here starts with a first lesson.
01 — Where the programme is right now
Bhutanese juniors are no longer only playing each other.
Two years ago a Bhutanese junior's whole season was a handful of matches in Thimphu. This year our players have competed at the 1st Bhutan Junior Tennis Championship, run a Monthly Junior Series at the National Training Centre, sent a team to the ITF Asia 14 & Under Development Championships in Phnom Penh, and carried the flag at the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors.
Squads train at Changlimithang through the week, grouped by age and standard: Little Champs for the youngest, then development and performance groups for the juniors chasing a ranking. Winter camps fill the school holidays, and school outreach brings racquets to children who have never held one.
It is a small programme. It is also, right now, the fastest-moving thing in Bhutanese sport.
